About me
I guess the most important thing to know about me as it pertains to this blog, is that I am a wholly converted gratitude filled member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I was not born into the faith but rather learned of it later in my youth and was pleased to discover that through my mother’s side, we have early member/pioneer stock in the Church. Learning about the gospel of Jesus Christ and applying the principles He taught to the best of my ability has brought me more joy and comfort to my life that I can possibly express.
Many look at religion, especially as taught through the restored Gospel, and they see commandments that keep people from “having fun” or “restricting freedom.” I look at the principles and commandments we are admonished to keep as guideposts leading me on a path to greater and greater understanding of who I am, where I came from, what my purpose is in this life, how happiness is obtained and kept and frankly, the secrets of the universe. From the time of my conversion, I can think of no greater joy that I have experienced than as a result of developing a relationship with the Savior, Jesus Christ. As a result of that relationship, I have been married to the love of my life, Garin, for 27 years and have been blessed with three children whose lives enrich my days in countless ways.
Honestly, I have no idea. The reason remains to be seen, especially to me!
As I was approaching the “empty nester” stage of parenting, I had been contemplating what I should do with my time. Among other things, the notion of writing a blog was suggested to me. I immediately laughed it off. I thought blogs were for other people; those who had a passionate interest in something specific, like traveling the world or cooking exotic dishes, whose ideas and adventures were worth writing and reading about were you so inclined. But me, write a blog? What on earth fits in that category for me? I couldn’t think of anything that I felt that passionate about, well, except perhaps my love of my Savior and His gospel. “Exactly,” God said.
“Wait, what?! Me? Why me? I'm no gospel scholar! I don't have any great insights or revolutionary ideas to change the world. I don't even consider myself much of a deep thinker! This must be a joke." Nope. No joke. No Heavenly laughter coming my way. Just inspired thoughts and feelings coming often. While it's true that I might not have deep wells of gospel knowledge, I love to share inspirational thoughts and stories when I find them. In fact, if you are close to me, you know that when I hear something that excites me, I can tell 10 people in the next 5 minutes "the coolest thing I just learned!' whether you already know me or not. "Exactly," God said.
So. My intent with this blog is to build and strengthen the faith and resolve of those who are believers in the Lord Jesus Christ wherever they are found. We find ourselves in a time of increasing unbelief, doubt and scoffing at things society once held dear. Mine may be a small voice but it will be a voice that testifies that He lives and moves in our lives now, to the extent that we let Him, as much as He did in any other age of mankind. I hope you can find it beneficial to that end.
Much love,
Kristin
